Discover an innovative, eco-friendly insulation made from pure milkweed fiber — a natural material recognized for its exceptional thermal performance, water-repellent properties, and breathable, antimicrobial qualities. Unique in the world, milkweed batting is up to 3x more efficient than standard polyester insulation while remaining vegan, biodegradable, and sustainable.

This non-woven batting is lightweight yet remarkably warm, making it ideal for a wide range of applications:

  • Winter wear linings — snow jackets, coats, pants, and mittens

  • Outdoor gear — insulated lunch bags, cooler sleeves, sleeping pads

  • Craft and textile projects — eco-friendly sewing, quilting, and DIY insulation solutions

Unlike many synthetic materials, milkweed is a renewable resource. It is grown responsibly and organically, helping sustain threatened monarch butterfly populations by creating huge new habitat and breeding grounds for them. It is also machine washable and dryable on delicate cycles, ensuring easy care without sacrificing durability. Unlike goose or duck down, it repels water, thus keeping its insulating power when a garment is damp or compressed.

Stronger than wool, warmer than goose down, and naturally hydrophobic, milkweed batting is the perfect plant-based alternative to synthetic and animal-derived insulators — offering both high performance and environmental responsibility, a rare combination.

Responsible and cruelty-free

The oil used to manufacture synthetic insulation is getting scarcer and more expensive, while down is questionable from an ethical standpoint. Milkweed can be farmed industrially in a win-win formula for nature and humans and performs better than its counterparts.

Respectful of Monarchs

By purchasing a Lasclay product, you are directly helping the monarchs, an endangered species. An abundance of milkweed in rural areas provides them with invaluable breeding grounds before their great migration, after which we harvest the floss.
