Milkweed Seed Oil Skincare
Our milkweed seed oil skincare starts with a co-product of our Québec milkweed floss: the cold-pressed oil of common milkweed seeds, golden and rich in omega-6, omega-7, omega-9 and vitamin E. Soaps, hand cream, body wash, shampoo, facial care and pure oil, blended in small batches at our Québec City workshop, or made by partner brands.
More about milkweed seed oil and this collection
Why milkweed seed oil for skin and hair?
Pressing milkweed seeds for their oil puts to use what is left once the floss, our insulation, has been harvested. As little as possible goes to waste, and the same plant feeds the monarch caterpillar: every field grown for the fibre is one more habitat. That is the logic behind the whole collection, and the reason we ended up making soap as well as mittens.
An oil that is rare in the plant world
Milkweed seed oil is rich in omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids, and in omega-7, uncommon among plants. It also contains 5 of the 8 forms of vitamin E, including tocotrienols, known for their antioxidant and moisturizing properties. Its colour is golden and its fresh, green scent recalls camelina oil. To understand where the plant comes from, read our page on milkweed.

Three scents, including no scent at all
Floral, honeysuckle and jasmine, like milkweed in bloom. Woodsy, green and resinous, like the forest floor after rain. Neutral, with no added fragrance, for sensitive skin and sensitive noses. The same botanical palette from one product to the next, so the bathroom shelf stays consistent.
Handmade in small batches, nothing hidden
Lasclay skincare is blended and bottled by hand at our Limoilou workshop in Québec City. Several products are on pre-order: the full ingredient list appears on each product page before it goes on sale, and the packaging shown may still change. As with everything we make, we say what is done here and what is done elsewhere. A question about an ingredient or reactive skin? Write to us and we will answer.
