Pure organic milkweed silk
Pure milkweed fibre, a plant material known for its exceptional insulating performance, its natural water resistance and its antimicrobial, breathable properties. The perfect insulating fill for countless products, including Lasclay's well-known winter accessories and insulated bags!
Loose milkweed floss can also be used to check wind direction while hunting, to absorb oily spills (it soaks up 5 times its weight in oil and fuel) and as stuffing for cushions. Milkweed is warmer than wool, down or synthetic materials, while being naturally hydrophobic and grown responsibly, with respect for the diverse wildlife that visits the plant, monarch butterflies in particular.

Material & Care
The milkweed comes from here
It is grown in Quebec, harvested in the fall, then turned into insulation at our workshop in Limoilou. That is the part we do not outsource: it is where our know-how sits, and it is what gives the plant value out in the fields. Final assembly of most of our products happens with partners abroad. We would rather write that plainly than let you assume otherwise.
Responsible and cruelty-free
The oil used to manufacture synthetic insulation is getting scarcer and more expensive, while down is questionable from an ethical standpoint. Milkweed can be farmed industrially in a win-win formula for nature and humans and performs better than its counterparts.
