Pure milkweed floss, a plant material recognized for its exceptional insulating performance, natural water resistance, and antimicrobial and breathable properties. The perfect combination as an insulating filler for many products, including our renowned winter accessories and insulated bags at Lasclay!
Milkweed's very lightweight, hydrophobic and lipophilic fiber can also be used to test wind direction while hunting, absorb oil spills (it absorbs 5x its weight in oil and fuel), and as padding for cushions. Milkweed is warmer than wool, down, or synthetic materials, while being naturally hydrophobic and grown responsibly, respecting the diverse wildlife that frequents the plant, including monarch butterflies.

Material & Care
The milkweed comes from here
It is grown in Quebec, harvested in the fall, then turned into insulation at our workshop in Limoilou. That is the part we do not outsource: it is where our know-how sits, and it is what gives the plant value out in the fields. Final assembly of most of our products happens with partners abroad. We would rather write that plainly than let you assume otherwise.
Responsible and cruelty-free
The oil used to manufacture synthetic insulation is getting scarcer and more expensive, while down is questionable from an ethical standpoint. Milkweed can be farmed industrially in a win-win formula for nature and humans and performs better than its counterparts.
