Where our products are made
The milkweed comes from Québec, always. It is grown in several regions: Capitale-Nationale, Charlevoix, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Lac-Saint-Jean and Chaudière-Appalaches. The floss is turned into insulation in the Eastern Townships, in Cowansville. Our operations and our research and development happen at our workshop in Limoilou, Québec City.
Textile assembly for most finished products is done by partners outside Québec, mainly in Tunisia. The insulation leaves here, is assembled there, and comes back inside the product. For coats, the shell is made in Tunisia; the insulation and the removable inserts stay Québec-made. That is what keeps prices accessible. Why? The Québec textile industry no longer has some of the expertise, or the machines, to make technical pieces at an accessible price. Making everything here would have put milkweed out of reach.
Several products are still made in Québec, in whole or in part: the skincare products (except the Monarch Botanika products), the pillows and the milkweed seeds.
Your product carries a “made in Québec” label? That is normal. While our manufacturing model is in transition, we are selling through the remaining Québec-made inventory first, until stock runs out.
In every case, all of the milkweed in our products, including those assembled abroad, comes only — and will always come only — from Québec plantations.
