Pure milkweed floss, a plant material recognized for its exceptional insulating performance, natural water resistance, and antimicrobial and breathable properties. The perfect combination as an insulating filler for many products, including our renowned winter accessories and insulated bags at Lasclay!

Milkweed's very lightweight, hydrophobic and lipophilic fiber can also be used to test wind direction while hunting, absorb oil spills (it absorbs 5x its weight in oil and fuel), and as padding for cushions. Milkweed is warmer than wool, down, or synthetic materials, while being naturally hydrophobic and grown responsibly, respecting the diverse wildlife that frequents the plant, including monarch butterflies.
Dimensions

Our milkweed fiber is shipped in Ziploc-style bags for dry and reusable storage, available in three sizes:

  • 2.5 grams in a 4” x 6” bag (10 cm x 15 cm)
  • 5 grams in an 8” x 6” bag (20 cm x 15 cm)
  • 15 grams in an 11” x 11” bag (28 cm x 28 cm)

Don't forget that milkweed fiber is very lightweight. 15 grams might not seem like much, but it's bulky!

Responsible and cruelty-free

The oil used to manufacture synthetic insulation is getting scarcer and more expensive, while down is questionable from an ethical standpoint. Milkweed can be farmed industrially in a win-win formula for nature and humans and performs better than its counterparts.

Respectful of Monarchs

By purchasing a Lasclay product, you are directly helping the monarchs, an endangered species. An abundance of milkweed in rural areas provides them with invaluable breeding grounds before their great migration, after which we harvest the floss.
